Hello!     My name is Kerrie.   Welcome to my blog.

                                                      A little of this and a pinch of that

My grandmother was an amazing cook and I wish I had some of her recipes to pass on to my grandkids but she was one of those culinary savants that just knew …. you need a little of this and pinch of that.   No recipe, just a crock of flour, butter, whatever, and in “two shakes of a lambs tail” we would have before us apple dumplings that I still dream of but have never recreated.  

Oh, and when it came to measuring she -would dip her hand into her crock of flour and take a handful - which may or may not equal a particular equivalent and a pinch or two of something or other and before we knew it we were hanging hand cut noodles to dry.  How I wish I had her recipe for hot endive salad with bacon and eggs, or her chocolate mayonnaise cake… but I don’t because she just gathered together what she would need and threw together a little of this, and a pinch of that …. and it was good.

So I’m blogging my cooking adventures so I can remember a year later how I made that “Election Cake” or “Quinoa salad” because sometimes a little of this and a pinch of that can lead to something pretty amazing.

    It was so nice to talk to you today at the Bountiful Harvest pick up. Thanks for all the information. I wasn't expecting such a plentiful assortment of produce and am thrilled with it all.

    I live in New York City and I love your blog. I am learning how to cook and find your blog most helpful. In the city we have lots of fresh vegetable markets, my favorite is at Union Square on Saturdays. This is when I like to experiment with your recipes its like fresh from the farm to the table day in the best city in the world....
