The fun thing about sliders is that you can fill them with any of your favorite sandwich fillings and make a big platter of small bites. You can go gourmet or keep them as simple as kiddie sammies. Here is a recipe to jazz up your tuna salad and serve it slider style….
This recipe will support 4 to 6 sliders.
Fresh baked and cooled slider rolls Slider Roll Recipe
1 can white albacore tuna packed in water
1 heaping Tablespoon finely chopped onion
1 heaping Tablespoon finely chopped celery
1 Tablespoon sweet pickle relish
2 Tablespoons mayonnaise – or more per your preference
1 Teaspoon celery seed
Several leaves of fresh crisp lettuce
Several thin slices of cheese – I like smoked gouda for these sliders
First, after opening the can of tuna, press hard to squeeze the water out of the can. This will prevent the tuna salad from getting runny after it is made.
Then, top the tuna with the chopped onion, celery, pickle relish, mayonnaise, and celery seed. Cut those ingredients into the tuna with a fork and then mix until you have the consistency you want. The more you mix the creamier it will become. Add additional mayonnaise if needed.
Assemble by placing lettuce leaves over the bottom bun. Next top with the tuna mixture. Then, top the tuna with thinly sliced cheese. Top the cheese with the top bun. Serve very soon after assembly.
